The same number of doors can represent very different projects. A sound coating, a failing painted surface, deeply textured oak and lifting thermofoil need different assessments. Repair and preparation are part of the scope, not details to discover after comparing headline prices.
Agree on what a “piece” includes.
Count doors and drawer fronts separately. Then identify the boxes, end panels, island, trim, glass areas, interiors and any hardware changes. A per-front figure without its included surfaces is hard to compare with a whole-project estimate.
Oak grain filling, a second color, interior finishing and repairs can all add work. Restaining has its own feasibility questions. Mixed cabinet and woodwork projects need a personal estimate rather than adding everything to a kitchen formula.
Compare written scopes side by side.
Check the preparation, coating system, included surfaces, reinstallation, access plan, payment terms and change-order process. The lowest number means little if the scopes differ. Your final price should follow a clear assessment and an agreed description of the work.
